Your symptoms have been running your life lately.
But they still don't define you.
You need health care professionals who understand that you are more than just your symptoms.
You need a natural, personalized approach to your health - there's so much more than just popping pills.
You need a compassionate team of health care experts to help you get your life back.
Back to effortlessly shuttling the kids from one activity to the next - organized and efficient - you even looked good doing it.
Back to the cottage where revelrous community BBQs receded into campfire cuddles and stargazing.
Back to yourself - the person you knew before the pain and anxiety turned you into someone you hardly recognize - quick tempered, irritable and spiritless.
At Acupuncture Works
we're here to help you achieve your goals,
or however ambitious they may be.
Meet our team of dedicated healthcare professionals.
Matthew is our fearless leader. He's the owner and acupuncturist at Acupuncture Works. He's been lucky enough to study acupuncture twice with different masters and has gained a deep insight into this ancient form of healing. Matthew has been practicing acupuncture for almost a decade now. When he's not at work you can find him carving up the pavement on his bicycle or training for his next triathlon. This year he celebrates 20 years of marriage. Congratulations Matthew and Sandra!

Jessica spent years as a dental hygienist and professional actor until inspiration to change careers struck - literally. Her life was turned upside down by a car accident and she credits her ability to walk today to the incredible chiropractic and massage care she received. Massage became a meaningful way for her to help others. Jessica studied massage, TENS and ultrasound at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy and has been practicing since 2007. When Jess isn't working she's chasing her kids around the soccer pitch. Or growing her own veggies and dreaming of culinary travel tours of Spain and Thailand. Sounds like we know where we're going for dinner.
Kelly has been a massage therapist in Ontario since 1999. She also spent 5 years working at the Mirage Casino and Spa in Las Vegas where she learned Thai table, Thai foot and Hot Stone massage. Kelly also taught massage at the Nevada School of Massage Therapy in Las Vegas. When she's not at work Kelly spends every minute with her family. Their favourite activity is boating. I guess after all those years in the desert we really can't blame her. Kelly offers Thai foot, relaxation and hot stone massages to clients on Fridays and Saturdays. New clients are welcome to book an appointment.
Judi has been an RMT since 2003 and is known for her deep tissue massage. She's also been practicing acupuncture since 2007 and has been a certified Yoga instructor since 2010. Judi also received her Can Fit Pro certificate to help teach clients exercises safely and effectively. When Judi's not working she's practicing yoga, reading Paulo Coelho and listening to the teachings of Pema Chodron (a Buddhist nun). Or she's off discovering North America one road trip at a time with her daughter and fiancé.
Shannon has been an RMT since 2001. She loves pregnancy massage and working with expecting moms. She also helps many clients that have TMJ issues. Outside work you can probably find her kicking butt at the gym - seriously she does kick-boxing. Or breaking a leg with a local theatre company; acting, stage managing or working technical feats of wonder with lighting and sound.
Seamus, an RMT registered with the CMTO, has been practising massage since 2005. He has experience in treating a wide range of injuries and conditions from sports injuries, palliative care, occupational injuries, to the everyday aches and pains life can bring. Seamus is honoured to work with you towards your health care needs and strives to provide quality care to everyone he treats. Seamus is also trained counsellor and has worked in developmental services for over 20 years. When not working he enjoys time with his children, playing soccer, and being active. He also has a passion for theatre and can be found acting or directing with Lindsay Little Theatre, or his own fund raising theatre group he co-founded, For a Cause Theatre, which raises money for local charities.
Dr. Jay has a B.Sc. in Biology from Trent University. He graduated from New York Chiropractic College in 2007 and has been practicing ever since. He's a member of the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, the Canadian Chiropractic Association and the Ontario Chiropractic Association. Dr. Jay loves to combine an active lifestyle with his passion for travel. In 2009 he ran a 5K portion of the Great Wall while visiting China. Dr. Jay and his wife dream of climbing to the highest point of every province and territory in Canada. So far they've completed the Eastern provinces and are working their way up to the Rockies.
Kelly spent 12 years working as a kinesiologist/ exercise therapist before deciding to pursue her Masters in Osteopathic Manipulative Science in 2013. She loves that osteopathy gives her a way to treat more than just the symptom or its effect but look at the mechanical WHY behind a problem. When Kelly's not working with clients you can find her on the volleyball court, the yoga mat or hanging out with her dog, Ruby.
A note from Matthew on how it all started...
Like many of you I suffered for years with chronic pain (migraines, shoulder pain, back pain, sciatica, knee pain, etc) after partially dislocating both shoulders while studying Aikido. Can we chalk that up to youth and stupidity? I tried just about everything (anti-inflammatories, cortisone shots, TENS, ultrasound, physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage) but only found temporary relief.
After suffering for years with nothing really working my doctor pronounced the dreaded word...surgery.
That's when my massage therapist suggested I try acupuncture. I felt like I had nothing to lose. If surgery was next I was willing to try just about anything. Living with chronic pain brings a misery and desperation for relief you can only truly understand if you've lived it.
I walked into my first acupuncture treatment with no expectations. So you can imagine just how shocked I was to find that after only 4 treatments I was 95% pain free! It took about 9 months to fix everything that was wrong with me but finding something that actually worked after years of suffering felt...miraculous.
However, it wasn't until years later (think mid-life crisis) that I actually decided to pursue a career in healing. I started with a course in Reiki. Turns out I had a natural talent for it and it wasn't long before I remembered all that acupuncture had done for me.
Since then I've been fortunate enough to study acupuncture twice with two different masters. It has broadened and deepened my understanding of acupuncture and the beautiful complexity of the human body. My certification with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario almost a decade ago marked the beginning of a journey that would culminate in the opening of Acupuncture Works and its evolution to the clinic you see today.
I'm proud to offer massage, chiropractic, osteopathy, orthotics, reiki, and reflexology alongside my acupuncture practice. I could never have foreseen this growth when I started out. But life rarely seems to take us down expected paths.
All the health care professionals at Acupuncture Works and myself find it a rewarding and humbling experience to help you find healing and lead more healthful, balanced lives.
We encourage you to reach out today and discover how personalized, compassionate healthcare can help you get back the life you were meant to live.
