Acupuncture Works can help you manage your health

Your symptoms have been running your life lately.

But they still don't define you.

You need health care professionals who understand that you are more than just your symptoms.

You need a natural, personalized approach to your health - there's so much more than just popping pills.

You need a compassionate team of health care experts to help you get your life back.

Back to effortlessly shuttling the kids from one activity to the next - organized and efficient - you even looked good doing it.

Back to the cottage where revelrous community BBQs receded into campfire cuddles and stargazing.

Back to yourself - the person you knew before the pain and anxiety turned you into someone you hardly recognize - quick tempered, irritable and spiritless.

At Acupuncture Works
we're here to help you achieve your goals,
however humble
or however ambitious they may be.

Meet our team of dedicated healthcare professionals.

Jessica Freeman - Registered Massage Therapist

Jessica Freeman - Registered Massage Therapist

Jessica spent years as a dental hygienist and professional actor until inspiration to change careers struck - literally.  Her life was turned upside down by a car accident and she credits her ability to walk today to the incredible chiropractic and massage care she received.  Massage became a meaningful way for her to help others.  Jessica studied massage, TENS and ultrasound at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy and has been practicing since 2007.  When Jess isn't working she's chasing her kids around the soccer pitch.  Or growing her own veggies and dreaming of culinary travel tours of Spain and Thailand.  Sounds like we know where we're going for dinner.

Kelly Funchion - Osteopath

Kelly Funchion - Osteopath

Kelly spent 12 years working as a kinesiologist/ exercise therapist before deciding to pursue her Masters in Osteopathic Manipulative Science in 2013.  She loves that osteopathy gives her a way to treat more than just the symptom or its effect but look at the mechanical WHY behind a problem.  When Kelly's not working with clients you can find her on the volleyball court, the yoga mat or hanging out with her dog, Ruby.

A note from Matthew on how it all started...

Like many of you I suffered for years with chronic pain (migraines, shoulder pain, back pain, sciatica, knee pain, etc) after partially dislocating both shoulders while studying Aikido.  Can we chalk that up to youth and stupidity?  I tried just about everything (anti-inflammatories, cortisone shots, TENS, ultrasound, physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage) but only found temporary relief.

After suffering for years with nothing really working my doctor pronounced the dreaded word...surgery.

That's when my massage therapist suggested I try acupuncture.  I felt like I had nothing to lose.  If surgery was next I was willing to try just about anything.  Living with chronic pain brings a misery and desperation for relief you can only truly understand if you've lived it.

I walked into my first acupuncture treatment with no expectations.  So you can imagine just how shocked I was to find that after only 4 treatments I was 95% pain free!  It took about 9 months to fix everything that was wrong with me but finding something that actually worked after years of suffering felt...miraculous.

However, it wasn't until years later (think mid-life crisis) that I actually decided to pursue a career in healing.  I started with a course in Reiki.  Turns out I had a natural talent for it and it wasn't long before I remembered all that acupuncture had done for me.

Since then I've been fortunate enough to study acupuncture twice with two different masters.  It has broadened and deepened my understanding of acupuncture and the beautiful complexity of the human body.  My certification with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario almost a decade ago marked the beginning of a journey that would culminate in the opening of Acupuncture Works and its evolution to the clinic you see today.

I'm proud to offer massage, chiropractic and osteopathy services alongside my acupuncture practice.  I could never have foreseen this growth when I started out.  But life rarely seems to take us down expected paths.

All the health care professionals at Acupuncture Works and myself find it a rewarding and humbling experience to help you find healing and lead more healthful, balanced lives.

We encourage you to reach out today and discover how personalized, compassionate healthcare can help you get back the life you were meant to live.
